DAPM:Now you two are related, explain the bloodline?
DR: Rhino- I had a best friend all through high school which i considered a brother since we were so close. Back in '06 he had found out about a relative he didn't know about which happened to be his uncle Ron. Since i considered him a brother automatically, Ron was introduced to me as"uncle". We had the same first name and all the same ideas so blood couldn't make us any closer.
RAM- I grew up without my father in my life, in my late teens I found him, found out I have a host of nephews, one of my nephews named John had a best friend that he kept telling me about an wanted me to meet, "he even happens to have the same name as you" he told me, so when we finally met I was introduced as "Uncle Ron" an we been family every since.
DAPM:Does It make it easier since you guys are working with family?
DR:Rhino- I believe they match up equally. its all in who you work with.
RAM- Yea, you gotta be unbiased to those types of things.
DAPM: Its hard to get a person to notice your talent among the millions that want to shine as well, what tactics make you get noticed? What kind of brand are you branching?
DR:Rhino- Our tactic is versatility. We keep you guessing where we might go next and that type of uniqueness is spread throughout everything we do. The music is versatile within itself with a collection of over 14 albums and mix-tapes including jazz and techno compilations. But, to step it up a notch, we also write, produce, and in some cases, mix the albums as well. but this is a universe and to run a universe a lot more work has to be done so now we find ourselves beyond just music. Being an independent organization means now we have to go beyond the streets into the board room and learning the business is accentual to our strategy. Most people like our classic style of rap with a twist of new skool cause it reminds them of how great the parties use to be back in the day as well as opens the mind to originality and flavor that's never been heard before. Then, as we would promote, we would hear questions like, "who shot that video?" and "who made that album cover" or "who directed that movie?" in which we could only reply, "us". The thing that gets noticed the most about us is our durability, our energy, our consistency and our creativity. we will stop at nothing to get the best quality sound and visual production possible.
Ram- From everything we create, rather it be the music or the film, we have a message, something you can learn from, something you may totally relate to, something that if you hear, see and watch what it is we do, it might change your life, inspire or motivate you to do better on that next step you make, or change your whole perspective on life as a whole, we brand TRUTH!
DAPM:I stress so much about how hip hop has loss its way, what do you think can help restore true hip hop?
DR:Rhino- Hip-hop is great for how much power it has at this moment. There aren't to many products that don't have a little hipness to them now a days. i will say i have notice that there's a lack of history though. Most rappers don't thank the people who paved the way for hip-hop to be known. They don't really study how the movement began or where the terms originate. i truly believe when we learn who we really are as voices to the voiceless, the culture will start to thrive even more.
Ram- In order to help restore hip-hop, people who want to create or follow the culture must research it an find out about the roots, where it originates and what it really means as a statement an a movement, in this time and day it's all about money, fame, an jewels, not a voice for someone who needs to be heard or a message that needs to be spread, to know the very essence of hip-hop is missing, to be hip is to be knowledgeable or up on what's happening, an to hop, is to move upon with what you know an make a difference while in that movement!
DAPM:Why is it so important as an artist to speak the truth rather than fabricated industry lies?
DR:Rhino- Truth is undisputed. Often, we find ourselves living in a world of lies and not being aware of it but that's exactly why it so important to speak the truth as well cause the truth is what brings us together. it holds the sanctity of our history as well as the answers to our future. Lies only cripple you to wanna stay at a veggie state of thinking which never progress us as a people and as a people we've be down for far too long.
Ram- Because as a artists we are responsible for what message we give our fans through our music and video, we are what they inspire to be one day, so what I say an tell them, they will believe to the T, living a life or creating a career out of fabrication will only get you so far and will keep you on that road to disaster, the truth is needed so that you can know what's real an what's not, the truth is needed to set a person on the right path to achieve what one set out for. What direction you go in depends on what truths you have been told!
DAPM:What are you bringing to the table?
DR:Rhino- We bring that missing piece back to the Hip-Hop puzzle. That connection between old skool and new skool, funk and crunk, industry and underground. we bridge that gap between what can't be done and limitless. With being so open minded to creativity, its easy to say we bring the future of entertainment to you, today.
Ram- What we bring to the table is the motivation to do whatever it is you are trying to do in the industry, weather it be rapping, producing, engineering, editing, directing, writing etc, as the world will soon learn we are comprised of all those skills in one plus more, we let the world know that you can do what you put your mind to, that there are no limits, no boundaries that you can't get pass as long as you believe in yourself an stay focused.
